Rye or bourbon with sweet vermouth and bitters. The cocktail of choice for anyone who means business. Smooth and complex.

Ingredients

·2 oz rye or bourbon whiskey
·1 oz sweet vermouth
·2 dashes Angostura bitters
·Maraschino cherry to garnish

Method

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Stir until well chilled, about 30 seconds. Strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with a cherry.

Pour slowly. Sip slower.
